It's grey and cold. I woke up late and my hot water bottle was still warm! Needless to say, I did not want to get out of bed.
I got a solitary walk in the woods with the dog. I'd love it if these were more meditative and I know they will be one day, but for now it feels like a lot of work. For a while there, she was really good about coming when called, but lately selective hearing is the name of the game. I load my pockets up with treats now and call her much more frequently, getting her reaquainted with the idea. As you can see, the scruffy little thing is very attentive where food is concerned.
A major victory over the last few weeks: seeing another dog approach us on the same sidewalk and not having to cross the street. Tanky is 45 lbs. of insecurity and encountering another dog while she's on the leash is not a pretty sight. No matter what the other dog looks like, she is all bravado and straining and I'm going to rip your face open if you so much as look at me! Finally, after weeks of really making an effort to change this behavior, she will not even acknowlege the other dog's presence a good portion of the time. It couldn't have happened soon enough. That was really getting old, not to mention embarrassing.
