Singing class and the director asks if anyone knows the definition of harmony. I'm sitting next to mini-pear and am a little surprised when her hand immediately shoots in the air.
"Peace."
This is said with the considerable conviction of a girl who knows what she's talking about.
The director shakes her head, "That's not the musical definition."
Mini-pear is perplexed, "Love?" She's less certain now and the suppressed giggles are not helping.
Once again, it's not the answer the director is looking for. Mini-pear slumps in her seat, more than a little dejected.
Another mother saves the day with a musical definition of harmony that includes the idea that two distinctly different lines of music that sound better together are like two people who don't agree but come to a peace about it.
Thank you, other mother.
