No car today, but we needed ingredients for our white chocolate/oatmeal/Craisin cookies. I had a Trader Joes employee breathless inform me that the reason there were no white chocolate chips was that it was out of season. I had to ask Just when does the white chocolate season end?
I just trundled my grocery rig (pictured to the left) across the parking lot to Ralphs, where, despite the season or lack thereof, I purchased a bag of white chocolate chips.
Then we came home and made cookies to take along to the homeschooling bake-off. And before I tell you about the bake-off, I have to say that Sarah, even though she lives 3000 miles away, is still my baking guru and so, when I called her to ask why the recipe called for ungreased cookie sheets, she patiently listened and advised and so I am happy to report there was no need to grease the sheets and the cookies turned out perfectly and very delicious indeed.
The bake-off was awesome. Everyone made something to share and some of the older girls made ribbons and enough categories that everyone got an award for something (our cookies won Most Delicate). There also just happened to be two birthdays, so a bouncy castle was rented and the kids gorged themselves on sugary baked treats and then burned it off bouncing and sliding around. Surprisingly, no one vomited. Periodic tears and banged heads, but no vomit. Tears stop after a little bit and dry off in the warm breeze.
No vomit is always a good outcome. What a wonderful, smart, charming blog! Found you through gezellig girl--I'll be back.

After a year of having the same sort of grocery rig, I finally broke down and bought a granny cart. I'm more in love with it than is really natural, I think.
