This little lady bug was crawling around next to the kitchen sink. Remembering the aphids crawling all over the Thai Basil, I gently scooped her onto a piece of paper and coaxed her onto a basil leaf. She's been snacking all afternoon.
Yay. Here's another Yay: By some freakish turn of good car mojo, the 1998 Saturn passed California's Smog Test:) I'd been mentally preparing myself for what I assumed was the inevitable - car shopping. Now we can find an old Mercedes Diesel wagon at our leisure, to be converted to vegetable oil at a later date. The Saturn does need a new radiator and probably new brakes, but I'll happily open my wallet and pay for those, as opposed to a whole vehicle.
i owned an 82 diesel mercedes wagon a few years ago. it's my biggest regret that we sold it. we were daunted by some repairs it suddenly needed and decided to get something newer and more reliable. and now their popularity has soared and i've kicked myself ever since. i really want to replace it but they're so so hard to find now!
