I want a ping pong table. In the meantime, I'd heard there was a game room up at the rec center. Rec centers always seem such sad, pathetic places, but mini-pear is taking a science class up at ours and the lobby struck me as a bit swish. I had this misguided notion that the game room might be a bit swish as well...
Look at that thing! Pathetic! The legs are all wobbly and you can see by how big the paddles are that it's actually a ping pong table in miniature. The rubber was peeling off the paddles and the ball was all grungy.
They did have a decent air hockey table, but I have this problem with toning down my competitiveness, even when it comes to playing seven year olds. Ask me about the time I tried coaching some of mini-pear's little friends in soccer. It was a bad scene.
At any rate, someone was going to lose their fingers on the air hockey table, so we moved things out into the gym where Mr. Pear schooled me in shuttlecock and I schooled everyone else in basketball. Alright, that last bit isn't true but I did get sweaty shooting hoops. I secretly wish I was tall enough to actually play basketball.
