Just in case you were looking for any more evidence that I'm actually a 72 year old woman, I spent the weekend at gardening symposium. Two very full days of garden tours, lectures, plant sales and discussions with landscaping professionals and gardening enthusiasts alike. I'm tired and inspired and overwhelmed (some Latin would have come in handy).
I'll let some of my favorite photographs from the weekend speak for themselves...
Oooh, succulents and cacti! We're looking damn good for 72, you and I.

The symposium2_2 photo - what are the tall rocket-shaped flowers? I'd snapped a photo of a group of them in California a couple of years ago and have been curious about their name. Any idea?

I think they're Red Hot Poker (Kniphofia uvaria). Sometimes called Torch lily.

It's actually an aloe - aloe arborescens.
