She was hoping to enjoy the first of many sunny Southern California birthdays in February, but it rained all day long. No cavorting at the playground of her choice.
We all went to karate this morning (usually it's just her and her dad), followed by lunch at her favorite spot - a modest little greasy spoon aptly named The Potato Shack. Then back home for rainy day activities - movies, mad libs, hot baths.
And now, I'm tired, having been woken up far too early by a very excited little girl. I suggested she lug her bag of goodies onto the bed and open them up, thinking she would snuggle up with a new book and I could get another half hour of sleep. But it was the friendship making kit she wanted to tear into immediately, so at seven o'clock this morning, I found myself propped up in bed, measuring out lengths of string, assisting her with long forgotten knots and patterns. And once I got used to the idea, it was a most pleasant way to spend the morning with my little big girl.
A big hug for the little (big) bug!
