Our little tree is up, but not decorated with the full array of ornaments. That's a very good thing, since d'anjou has managed to pull it down on top of himself, not once, not twice, but three times. I suspect we would have lost quite a few of the more delicate decorations. He seems to have lost interest, but you never know...
I am not finding it to be a particularly stressful holiday season. Thanks to the interwebs, my shopping is finished and I have a perfectly manageable amount of secret holiday knitting to finish. Nothing I will need to rush through, an enjoyable run of knitting to keep me occupied while streaming holiday specials to watch with the family.
We are, for the most part, relaxing;) I have not wanted to mention it earlier, for fear of jinxing the whole deal, but it appears d'anjou has decided that yes, he just might like a nice long nap most afternoons. I can't express what a difference this has made for life in general. Mini-Pear and I get a big chunk of us time, to do with as we please. The laundry is done, dinner isn't quite the scramble it once was, not to mention getting to work on projects and read together. He's a lovely little boy, but it is nice to have a couple of quiet hours a day when we don't have to worry about him getting into every last little thing.
Mr.Pear broke into the Cadbury Roses (early!!), so what with us stuffing our faces with chocolates and the rain outside, and the heating being fixed, and clementines and hot chocolate and the holiday music on heavy rotation, it feels very much like a lazy winter holiday. The only thing missing is a fire (and latkes!!!), but given the X-mess tree hijinks, I think we are better off keeping the fireplace out of bounds.
Ahhhh! sounds cosy! Resisting the mince pies so far?
