I think my husband Darin met you at a field trip out in Wimberley yesterday. I actually found out about the field trip from your blog, so thanks for that! We homeschool as well, and pursuing sustainability, but you're a bit further ahead on the journey. Right now some of what we're doing is composting, attempting to grow food on our shady urban lot, farmer's marketing, and pursuing educational opportunities in sustainability which are seemingly around every corner here in Austin. Would love to meet if you're interested. My kiddos are 17, 14, 8, and 8 months. My email address is heathermaroni73@yahoo.com. Great job on the blog!

Hi Heather!

Sadly, I did not get to go on the field trip this weekend. I got hit by a wicked migraine that had me literally floored!

I went to a community meeting last night that might be of interest to you, given your shaded lot situation. The city's passed a couple of ordinances and has hired a full time staff person to assist with the formation of new community gardens here in town.

Anyway, I'd love to get together, maybe we can meet up at the Farmer's Market? I'll shoot you an email;)

The Farmer's Market would be great! We typically go to the Sunset Valley farmer's market, but I'd be up for visiting any of them.

Talk to you soon!
